FEES & REBATES

  • First session: $320 (60 min) or $460 (90 min) – The initial session usually involves a comprehensive assessment and discussion of your goals and treatment plan.

  • Ongoing sessions: $280 (50 min) – Standard therapy sessions for follow-up, intervention, and progress review.

  • Our fees are designed to reflect the time, expertise, and preparation that go into each session.

Reports

  • We can prepare reports for schools, healthcare providers, or other services. Please note that report writing may have an additional fee.

Cancellation Policy

  • Please cancel appointments at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Late cancellations: If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, a $135 fee will be charged.
  • Why we ask this: Short-notice cancellations prevent us from offering that appointment time to other clients who may need it.
  • This policy ensures our practice remains fair and sustainable for all clients.

  • Our practice is registered with Medicare. This means that if you are eligible, you may be able to claim a Medicare rebate for sessions with our psychologists.

Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative

  • Under the Australian Government’s Better Access initiative, people who have been assessed with a clinically diagnosed mental disorder and have a Mental Health Treatment Plan (prepared by a GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician) can access Medicare-rebated psychology services.
  • For more information, you can visit the Services Australia page: Mental Health Care and Medicare – https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/mental-health-care-and-medicare

How many sessions can I claim?

  • With a valid referral, you may be eligible for:
  • Up to 10 individual psychological therapy services per calendar year, and
  • Up to 10 group therapy services per calendar year
  • A calendar year runs from 1 January to 31 December.
  • This is outlined by the Department of Health here: Better Access Initiative – https://www.health.gov.au/our-work/better-access-initiative

Who can provide these services?

  • At our practice, all sessions are provided by eligible registered psychologists, consistent with the Better Access program requirements.

How the referral process works

  • Your GP will usually refer you for an initial course of up to 6 sessions. After these sessions, your GP will complete a review to determine whether you can access additional sessions (up to the yearly maximum).
  • For information on referrals, see: Allied Health Referrals for Mental Health Care Plans – https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/allied-health-referrals-for-mental-health-care-plans

Important to know

  • The 10 individual and 10 group Medicare-rebated services are a total limit per person, per calendar year — not per psychologist.
  • Once your annual Medicare-rebated allocation is used, further sessions will be charged privately until the allocation resets on 1 January.

  • Some private health insurers provide rebates for psychology services, depending on your level of cover. Because benefits vary between funds and policies, we recommend contacting your insurer directly to confirm your eligibility and rebate amounts.

Can I use Medicare and private health insurance for the same session?

  • No. You can claim either a Medicare rebate or a private health insurance rebate, but not both for the same appointment.

How do I make a private health insurance claim?

  • Our practice is currently unable to process private health insurance claims on your behalf. However, we will issue you with a detailed receipt after your session. You can then submit your claim directly to your health fund either:
  • online,
  • through their mobile app, or
  • in person at a branch.

  • Our practice accepts clients who are NDIS self-managed. Below is a simple explanation of what this means and how it works.

Self-Managed NDIS Funding

  • If your NDIS plan is self-managed, it means you are in charge of managing your own funding. You can choose your own providers, including psychologists who are not NDIS-registered. This gives you full flexibility to decide who delivers your therapy services.

How it works with us

  • If you are self-managed:
  • You pay for your session directly with us on the day.
  • We provide a detailed invoice or receipt.
  • You then claim the cost back from the NDIS portal (myplace) and receive reimbursement.

How do I get NDIS funding?

  • To receive NDIS funding, you must go through the National Disability Insurance Scheme access process, which includes:
  • Meeting NDIS eligibility criteria
  • Submitting an access request
  • Having a planning meeting
  • Receiving an approved NDIS plan, which may include therapy supports such as psychology
  • More information about the access process is available at:
NDIS – Apply for the NDIS: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis

Other NDIS Funding Types (Not Accepted at Naveh Centre)

  • There are two other types of NDIS funding management. We do not accept these at our practice.
  • Plan-Managed (Not Accepted)
  • In plan-managed funding, a registered plan manager pays providers on your behalf.
Plan-managed participants can generally see both NDIS-registered and unregistered providers but only if the plan manager is willing to pay them.
At this time, we do not invoice plan managers directly.
  • NDIA-Managed / Agency-Managed (Not Accepted)
  • If your plan is managed by the NDIA (also called agency-managed), you can only use NDIS-registered providers.
Because our practice is not NDIS-registered, we cannot see NDIA-managed clients under NDIS funding.
